I will never forget my first concert experiences, which happened much later for me than most people. Attending a live music event for the first time is all at once culture shock, potentially overwhelming, but overall immersive and euphoric. Ever since that first show, I've photographed live music at every opportunity, to try to capture and communicate that spiritual first-time feeling.

I love highlighting the hard work of local event planners like Lisa Romella of Awkward Nerd Events. I'm in awe of the way that her events like the Barbie's Malibu Dream Lounge Pop-Up and Awkward Nerd Book Fair (both pictured below) bring people together for a unique and collaborative experience.
