WHAT I WRITE

Creative non-fiction lets me explore and work to understand my past and, by extension, my present. (see: "Excerpts from 'Frames'")

My career at Porchlight Book Company has allowed me to both write professional pieces like book reviews as well as more conversational pieces for social media posts.

My experience as a copywriter/copy editor at the UW-Milwaukee Union Marketing office for 2 years made use of my skills with attention to detail and English (and sometimes Spanish) grammar knowledge.

My internship with 88Nine Radio Milwaukee allowed me to publish a few articles based on interviews I've conducted or experiences I've had in Milwaukee. (see: "Relive the lush visuals and sound of Big Wild at Turner Hall")

I've gravitated toward the loose rules of poetry through much of my life, and I've incorporated original poems into many of my experimental films (see: "It Feels Like_")

I strive to generate empathy, and focus on emotional responses through my writing and other works. I achieve this through vivid and poetic interpretations and narratives that reveal a transformation in thinking, being, or understanding.
